Lawn - Scott's Wintergard and Ground Radiation Pics.

Put some Wintergard down about 1 month ago and decided to give it another application.  Here is the before:

I also tried ground radiation for about 5 days to get my fescue to germinate faster, but either it was too cold or the seed was bad or it just did not work.  Still have a dirt patch:

Deep Water

Water 1/2 inch then 90 minutes later water another 1/2 inch.

Best time to water is after a 1/4 inch storm.  Weeds like water on top, so deep watering is better.

4/17 - 10 min x 2 for lawns
4/22 - 10 min x 2

Water Conservation

I've been tinkering with a device that monitors the moisture content in the ground. It is available from http://www.hobby-boards.com/. You need three components to measure moisture, the 1-wire board, a gypsum probe and a computer to monitor the readings.

Need a privacy screen for the backyard

I'm leaning toward English Laurel, but don't want to create a maintenance headache.  Nice FAQ here:

Pocket Gopher

These pesky creatures appear every spring and wreak havoc on my lawn. I don't normally see them running around mid-day, but he must have been hungry judging by the grass stuffed in his "pockets". Do they eat grass or just build nests with it? I'm guessing this is a pocket gopher.

I battle with at least a couple of gophers every year. I first tried traps with and had limited success. Poison pellets have worked well over the years. "Sure Stop" seems to be the best locally available option. I tried barley based pellets one year and had a nice crop of barley in the middle of my lawn. My new pellet gun with scope picked this guy off with the first shot.
